Around 30 million employees in developing countries earn their income via digital platforms – 5-25 percent of these as their full-time occupation. Fair working conditions are required to minimise the negative effects of digital platform on workers in developing countries. The Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development supports Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) to establish the Fairwork Foundation. Fairwork is committed to highlighting best and worst practices in the emerging platform economy by using its principles to score fair working practices across the platforms.
