“Africa, which is considered to be the youngest continent in the world, has a great need for a catalyst platform in order to transform itself into a single digital market. For that to happen, we have to connect our countries and interconnect cross-borders as well as innovate our approach of social economic development.” – L. Koné

The driving force behind Africa’s digital transformation
Who is the man that 28 African states trust to transform the continent into a single digital market? An opportunity to meet Mr. Lacina Koné (General Director of Smart Africa)

Date: 30 October 2019, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Location: Marie-Schlei-Saal, BMZ Berlin
Stresemannstraße 94, 10963 Berlin

Digital technologies can help overcome the inequality gap between countries or it can widen it even more. To use the potential of digitalisation is far more complex than just dealing with infrastructural issues like Internet access. Creating positive social, economic and environmental change requires the cooperation of a wide range of stakeholders from the digital society and economy to overcome barriers and challenges.

Smart Africa is a commitment by 28 African governments to focus their country strategies on digital transformation. It is striving to create a digital single market on the African continent. The initiative stands out as a politically and economically relevant partner. It participates in political processes at the EU level and plays a key role in advancing ICT issues on the African continent. The Alliance represents the digital interests of around 700 million people and is the most important political partner for ICT partnerships in Africa.

We would like to remind you of the invitation to meet Mr. Koné in person and hear his proposals to deal with the current challenges. We want to explore together the chances and difficulties for African Tech-businesses and the development of an enriching environment for the public.

There are some free places remaining. Please register here till October 27, 2019.

Please note again that a prior registration is mandatory in order to enter the BMZ building due to security reasons.  You will also have to show a valid photo ID at the entrance.

We are looking forward of meeting you there!
