United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

At a glance

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was established in 1966 and is domiciled in New York. It is the central organisation of the UN Development Funds and Programmes and plays a key role in the implementation of the sustainability development goals (SDGs). It is active in around 170 states and is represented by 135 country offices and 5 regional offices on site with the aim of reducing poverty, inequality and exclusion.

In action

The UNDP helps countries develop their own guidelines in order to achieve the UN sustainability goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) provides funding for UNDP Accelerator Labs, which are looking to develop dynamic approaches to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.
