As digitalisation progresses, financial sectors are also experiencing a global revolution – both in developed and developing markets. Financial transactions today can be conducted around the clock from a phone or online, whether the user is in Berlin or in a rural village in Africa. Although the private finance sector accounts for the main drivers of digital innovation, it is important to help the partner countries of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development actively and cooperatively shape digital change in the financial sector – to ensure that development remains sustainable and inclusive.

Digi#ances in Jordan

The Digi#ances project, which is part of the special initiative “combating the causes of displacement, reintegrating refugees” of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, supports the financial integration of Jordanian and Syrian refugees who have no bank account. By supporting digital financial services, refugees are hoped to be provided with a cheap and secure way of making payments and transfers.
